Ausure City & Rural team expands their presence in South Australia and NT
News highlights:
- Ausure City & Rural in the Barossa Valley has recently purchased an insurance broking business with clients in and around the Adelaide area, The Riverland, as well as Alice Springs. These businesses were purchased from DPR (Adelaide) Insurance Broker’s Dennis Rebbeck who will assist with the smooth transition of clients.
- The team has also relocated head offices from Gawler to Tanunda in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. “This is a growth area for us, moving into Tanunda where there are no other insurance advisers, plus some good wine! Pop in for a coffee to see the team at 49 Murray Street (next to the Tanuanda Hotel and across the road from Brown’s Donuts). With the addition of the Riverland Insurance Brokers portfolio, we also have an office in Loxton,” says MD Travis Miller.
- They’re also excited to announce new team members: Matt Miller has joined Ausure City & Rural as an Account Executive and comes to us with over 24 years’ experience at CGU and has experienced all classes of insurance and in particular the SME & Corporate segment. During this time, he has been a local Business Development Manager, Underwriter and held a role servicing Brokers at a National level.
- The team’s new Broker Assistant is Ben Smith who has 20 years’ experience at an insurer, dealing with International Brokers.
“We’re looking at developing our business in all areas. I’ll continue to service rural & regional South Australia, focusing on growth in the rural insurance sector, while Matt will be expanding our corporate and commercial side of the business and the management of the DPR transition.”
Travis Miller, Managing Director of Ausure City & Rural
The Miller brothers have a family history in the industry. It turns out insurance runs in their genes.
“Our Pop (Grandfather) ran a successful AMP Business in regional SA, an uncle took this business over whilst another uncle has been at WFI for 25-30 years. Our father, Dale, was also in the industry for 40+ years. So, we should have started a family brokerage earlier!”
When asked what factors have contributed to the growth and success of Ausure City & Rural, Travis says “We really do put our customer first with remarketing renewals, lodging & managing claims. We’ll meet clients where they’re at – at their kitchen table, business or boardroom.”
“We are here to make insurance clear and easy for our customers by giving the correct advice, letting them know what they need to be aware of.”
“I really enjoy the ‘family business’ feel to being part of the Ausure Group. I also value our partnership as Ausure is always there to assist or provide advice when needed. Can’t forget the excellence of our Debtors and Compliance procedures either.”
“I enjoy my role as an insurance advisor, meeting all types of people across South Australia and ‘trying’ to educate them on the insurane broking industry and how it works. We all come across the clients/people that want their premiums back in claims or think insurers put premiums up every year just make huge amounts of money without knowing about the re-insurance programs, insurer investments, loss ratios, etc.
“Recently I had a funny moment, I had a client tell me they gave me a NPS score of 4 because they didn’t want us to get high ratings and get too busy to look after them…..whilst frustrating it was still a nice thing to know.”
3 Insurance Tips:
1. If you can’t afford to lose it, insure it!
2. Get a broker to represent you, not an agent to represent the insurer.
3. Don’t buy direct until you have read the PDS from front cover to back cover.

“If anyone tells me they don’t think insurance is necessary, I usually just remind them that we all buy a lotto ticket expecting to win but with insurance we think “it won’t happen to me.”
