Outback to Safari: The Ausure Convention Countdown Begins!

Ausure will be hosting its annual conference in South Africa this year, with the event running from the 12th to the 20th of April, it is sure to provide a once-in-a-lifetime event for its delegates.

Ausure CEO Scott McCarthy shared, “We’re truly excited to be able to host our 2024 conference in South Africa. The thrill of being in the African bush doing game drives and the sheer beauty of Cape Town and its surroundings make it a unique experience for the group. A trip like this, with around 100 people, including our insurer and funding partners, creates connections that you do not get from a normal conference event. One of our goals, when we decided on South Africa, was to be able to take our long-serving staff as recognition of their contribution towards Ausure’s success, so it will be really satisfying watching their faces when they head out on their first game drive.

“I look forward to catching up with all the delegates and sponsors once we hit the ground in Johannesburg and enjoying a memorable 9 days together.”

What’s on the Agenda?

With Ausure staff, ARs and Insurers flying from all across Australia, the conference will commence in Johannesburg, where after a short stay overnight, the adventurers set off to the conference destination, the beautiful Ivory Tree Game Lodge. The Ivory Tree Game Lodge provides its travellers with several cultural and thrilling experiences, from the Boma Dinners to the Morning and afternoon Game Drives and the opportunity to relax. The Convention, held on the 14th, will run for the whole day; this, however, provides ample time to create meaningful relationships and share some unique experiences for the remainder of the trip.

On the 16th, the caravan hits the sky once again, this time flying into Cape Town, where they will stay at The Table Bay Hotel, located on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront; from there, the travellers will experience culinary and soul-stirring activities that will be talked about for years to come!

Ausure delegates will have the opportunity to explore Cape Town by land, sea, cable car or even Harley Davidson, taking in the local scenery and exploring some of the best South Africa has to offer.

On the 20th, once most have filled their “South Africa Cup”, we will wave goodbye to new friends made and prepare to go our separate ways, a little fuller, a lot bolder and with a myriad of stories to tell.

Who’s Who in the Zoo

Ausure Head office

Along with Ausure’s Senior Management team in attendance, this year Ausure wanted to show their appreciation for their long standing staff, inviting a total of 25 Head Office employees to attend.

Client Service Broker, Maxi Frohloff is one of those long standing staff members, having worked for Ausure for over 10 years and attending an overseas Ausure Conference for the first time; Maxi Shared, “When I was told that I was selected to attend the South Africa Convention I was ecstatic, to say the least! I have never been invited to a trip like this through an employer before, so even to be considered is a dream come true!”

“I have never been to South Africa, it has always been on my list as I love travelling the world, but because it isn’t always the safest country, I would only travel there with people I know. It is so good to be invited along with many Ausure Head Office colleagues and friends, as there is no way I would have considered going on a tour by myself to South Africa. I am most excited about seeing all the animals on safari as I am in love with African elephants and Giraffes – They are such majestic and smart creatures.”

Ramona Pei, IT Project Coordinator, has been with Ausure for over ten years, and is eagerly getting ready for the trip of a lifetime, she shared, “I went through a range of emotions; from being shocked, to super grateful and lucky when they told me, and now I am starting to get even more excited with four weeks left to go.”

I have never been to South Africa, but it has been on my bucket list, and I am truly excited to go on the safari, see the Big Five and visit Table Mountain in Cape Town. It’s a great opportunity to be able to experience this with work colleagues, especially those I have known for years, and to also meet the ARs and Insurers attending. It will also be a nice change not having to organise anything as it’s all being taken care of.

“I would like to say baie dankie (Afrikaans) / thank you very much to those who have made this opportunity to attend possible and also to Graeme and the Events Team for planning an amazing conference and definitely a trip of a lifetime!”

ARs from across the Ausure Network will be in attendance with over 42 Brokers and their families eagerly packing their bags and checking their flight times.

Belinda Sosa, Director of Ausure Burleigh Heads, is excited about attending this year’s convention, sharing, “It will be my first time visiting South Africa, and my husband and I look forward to experiencing what South Africa has to offer, including the Safari and socialising with other Ausure Brokers & Sponsors. We have decided to extend our trip before the event and look forward to catching up with everyone. We have always found the best thing about attending an Ausure Convention is having the opportunity to talk to other Brokers about how they run their businesses & make stronger connections with Sponsors.”

Coastsure Director Rolf Van Dulst has welcomed the chance to experience an Ausure Convention in South Africa. Rolf stated, “This is our first trip to South Africa, and I have to admit it wasn’t even on our radar to travel to SA, but we are certainly very excited to be part of this wonderful opportunity. I will be travelling with Charlie, my wife, and David Beard, the other principal in the business, has kindly volunteered to hold the fort during this busy period for the office.”

“We have decided to break up our trip by staying a few days in Singapore before the conference starts. Hopefully, this break in the long flight will mean we arrive fresh and ready to engage in the conference from day 1! As a keen amateur photographer, Charlie looks forward to snapping a few shots of the Big Five while on safari. I look forward to exploring the area around Cape Town as I believe it is a beautiful part of the world with some spectacular scenery.”
“I always appreciate the opportunity to talk to other ARs and Underwriters at conventions. In business today, we get very little time to learn what other ARs are doing, and we can all learn from each other. The convention will also allow me to develop better relationships with insurers, to find out what types of business they are after, and how we can better do business together.”

Mandy Cooper, Director of CPR Insurance, is looking forward to sharing the South Africa trip with her daughter and one of her valued staff, sharing, “Although this isn’t my first Ausure Conference, this will be my first time travelling to South Africa, and I am excited to be sharing this experience with my daughter. I am also bringing a staff member who has worked really hard over the last two years supporting CPR and my late husband/business partner whilst he was undergoing treatment for myelofibrosis-turned-leukemia, which he lost his battle with in January of last year.

“It has been a really tough two years, and I look forward to having some downtime, making connections and hearing about Ausure’s direction for next year. I am so looking forward to the break, and I’m counting down the days to the first champagne in the airport lounge!”

Insurers & Premium Funders

Sometimes it can be difficult to justify attending a week-long convention, where it looks like more fun than work is to be had but the opportunity to network with brokers, insurers and premium funders is invaluable. You build meaningful relationships that will last and stand the test of time. Fortunately we had several insurers and premium funders who saw the benefit of a more intimate, impactful and meaningful event, with more than 10 Insurers and premium funders in attendance.

One of our Gold Sponsors, SafetyCulture Care’s Head of Strategic Partnerships, Damien Cullen, is proud to be attending this year’s convention, sharing, “Ausure is a great supporter and advocate of our proposition, and SCC are really excited about being a Gold Sponsor for the conference.”

“Although my mother is originally from Cape Town and goes back regularly, this will be my first time visiting; we had had the opportunity a couple of times to accompany my mother as my brother and I were growing up, but being typical teenage boys, we did not want to hang around with mum. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

“I do wish my family would have been able to attend; however, my wife and I, along with our three daughters, will be in Hobart the week before, watching my youngest daughter represent NSW in the National U16 Field Hockey Championships.”

“I’m looking forward to spending time with a quality group of people and experiencing all J’Burg and Cape Town have to offer. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) making some new connections within the network, and I’m really excited to meet my mother’s family for the first time and see where she came from.”

Daniel Gronert, Chief Executive Officer for Arteva, a Key Partner of Ausure this year and a Gold Sponsor, stated, “We are really looking forward to spending quality time with the Ausure team and enjoying some fantastic adventures together. I haven’t travelled to South Africa before, so I’m excited to see the ‘big five’ and spend some evenings socialising over a quality ‘brai’ and South African wine.

“I’ll be bringing my young family along for the Cape Town leg, so post-convention, we will travel onwards to Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe to experience a once-in-a-lifetime family holiday.”

Gold Sponsor, NTI’s Jay Hani, National Operations Manager – Commercial, is also looking forward to the opportunities a bespoke event such as the Ausure South Africa Convention will bring, sharing, “We are always delighted to be invited to participate in the Ausure conferences. Whilst we always get a lot out of attending the Ausure conferences, our sponsorship is a reflection of the work that goes on year-round, supporting each other to deliver to our mutual clients. This year my wife and I will be representing NTI in South Africa, and we are looking forward to the quality conversations and friendships that are forged when you share a once in a lifetime experience with each other.”

Ausure would like to thank our sponsors who made this year’s Ausure Convention possible.
Gold Sponsors: Arteva, NTI & SafetyCulture Care.
