What’s the secret to Astute GI’s impressive growth and success?
Astute GI located in Cairns, North QLD, has recently won the award for the Fastest Growing Business within the Ausure Group.
As one of the largest insurance broking networks in Australia, Ausure has more than 110 insurance advisor businesses located in all states and territories across the country. Considering the growth that Ausure’s Authorised Representative branches have achieved during the past year, this achievement for Astute GI is commendable.
We chatted to Rebecca Flynn to find out more about her secret to business growth and success in the insurance industry.
“Astute GI commenced in July 2020, with just myself determined to grow a Business that focused on the client and their particular needs. After 17 years as an Authorised Representative (AR) with an International Broker, it was refreshing to start again as an AR with Ausure Insurance Brokers in Australia which has real family values and so helpful”, explains Rebecca Flynn.
“We soon grew to a team of five with the assistance of Ausure and loyal clients that followed and appreciated the additional attention we were able to give them.
Our insurance broking team sits in the Astute North Qld Office, which has Mortgage Brokers, Commercial Finance Brokers, Accountants, Wealth Brokers and Equipment Finance.
This was very a strategic placement, as we had an instant referral base of loyal Astute clients that were happy for us review their Insurance Placements. Establishing on a loyal referral network that valued what we gave their clients and keeping them involved in our successes.
Being in a single office location where clients to access all financial services from Accounting, Borrowing to Insurance has been a definite advantage in this area.
Also having the ability to reach out to the wider Ausure Network. Being part of the Ausure Group has been a huge part of our success.
Even though we are remotely located up north, the Ausure team are always only a phone call away, always interested in what we are doing. Ausure are valued by the Insurers. We are constantly amazed at the lengths Insurers will go to assist us because we are part of the Ausure Group,” enthuses Rebecca.
Rebecca Flynn is actively involved in the local community. She is on the Cairns Jockey Club Committee, National Board for Mental Health and volunteer for Moyamoya Australia.
“When living in a regional city, the more you can give the more it gives back. Getting involved provides an opportunity to tell people my passions and what I can do to help them personally and professionally,” reflects Rebecca.
“Living in Far North Queensland means the reef and rainforest all on our doorstep. Placing Insurance has its difficulties above the 26th parallel but it’s magical to live here.
Watching my staff grow professionally and building a fabulous team has been one of the most rewarding and memorable parts of running this business.
We are always looking for more team members who have the level of professional skills required to grow the business. Our advantage as a ‘Start up” is that we can often tailor a position to people’s skill set.
Align staff with an industry, product or referrer that they have an interest in and they blossom and make the role their own. “
What advice does Rebecca Flynn have for other insurance brokers starting out? Or businesses wanting to grow and succeed?
“The saying goes that you are only as good as your weakest link, and this is where the success of Abico is built on,” responds David.
“We are more than just a business, we are a family and that synergy allows us to turn each other’s weaknesses into strengths, both professionally and personally, We all help each other every day and learn together every day.”
